Government Shutdown Update: Office of Sponsored Research and Programs

UPDATE ON THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

As you are aware, the government is on a “shutdown.” As such, many government agencies are affected which require a furlough which limits or stops activities at government agencies.

The Office of Sponsored Research and Programs has been informed that the National Science Foundation (NSF) will continue to accept proposals in accordance with published deadlines. You can find additional about the Government shutdown for NSF Proposers and Grantees, at their website.

Grants.gov system will remain in an “Operational Status”.  Cayuse will also continue to be operational.

Faculty should be prepared to submit all proposals and reports according to published deadlines.  We have not received any information regarding the extension dates of proposal deadlines.

All awards from federal sponsors are not being issued.  If you are expecting a new award or the next phase of incremental funding, an advanced expenditure authorization form may be completed, but is at the risk of the department.  If the funding is not provided by the sponsor, the department/college will be responsible for all expenditures.  All pre-spending requests must be approved by the appropriate department Chair.  OSRP may require additional information as part of their review before approving any advanced expenditure authorization forms.

We will continue to provide you with information as soon as we are able.  Please do not hesitate to contact OSRP or at  312.567.3035 if you should have any questions.
