Great Problems, Great Minds Seminar: Understanding the Attitudinal Linkage Between Nuclear Technologies

Join the Department of Social Sciences for this Great Problems, Great Minds seminar series event featuring Jonathon Baron, a research scientist at Facebook Demography & Survey Science, on February 18 from 12:40-1:40 p.m.

This seminar explores the relationship between public attitudes toward nuclear power and public attitudes toward nuclear weapons. Guest speaker Jonathon Baron, a research scientist at Facebook Demography & Survey Science, will delve into nationally representative surveys and survey experiments in the United States, and will present historical materials showing how mass persuasive messaging relates to public opinion about nuclear technologies. Baron holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at Yale University; his personal research focuses on public opinion and nuclear policy, with an emphasis on how public attitudes toward nuclear weapons influence attitudes toward nuclear energy.
