Humanities Department Hosts, “From Eve to Evolution: Women and Science in the 19th Century U.S., An Introduction”

WomensMonth2015_POSTER_FNL.jpgKimberly Hamlin, Ph.D., associate professor of American Studies and History at Miami University Ohio, contends in her book From Eve to Evolution that science played a key, yet often misunderstood, role in 19th-century debates about women’s rights. Her presentation for Women’s History Month on March 9, 2015 from noon-1:30 p.m. in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCCC) Ballroom will explore the enthusiasm with which 19th-century women greeted science, especially evolutionary science, and the many ways they attempted to use science for feminist purposes.
