IIT Scarlet Hawk Ian McNair won the men’s three-meter diving championship at the 2013 NAIA Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving National Championships during the first day of competition on Wednesday. McNair, a physics major from Palatine, was an NAIA Men’s Swimming & Diving All-American in 2012.
Mcnair captured the title with a final score of 304.50 after finishing runner-up last year. Denys Noyles came in second with a score of 281.50. Noyles had the third best preliminary score, but improved almost 50 points in the final round to secure second place. Mcnair will look to win his third national championship in four years in the one-meter championship Thursday.
The first full day of competition begins Thursday, with swimming preliminaries to begin at 10 a.m. CST followed by the finals at 6 p.m. CST at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center. Diving continues tomorrow as well, with the men’s one-meter preliminaries to be held after the swimming events in the morning, and the finals to follow in the evening.
Video streaming of every event during the championships is available on the NAIA website.
