IIT College of Architecture Fall Lecture Series Featuring Phyllis Lambert Is Tonight

IIT College of Architecture’s Fall Lecture Series featuring Phyllis Lambert, the Founding Director and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal, is at 5:30 pm today, November 14, 2013 in S.R. Crown Hall, Center Core. Lambert will have a discussion with Wiel Arets, Dean of IIT College of Architecture on Building Seagram, Lambert’s new book about the birth of the modernist New York landmark. A book signing will immediately follow at 6:30 pm. (Note: Building Seagram will be sold tonight only at a special price of $50.)

Lambert first made architectural history as the Director of Planning of the Seagram Building in New York (1954–58), the development of which is documented in her recently released book Building Seagram (Yale University Press, 2013). She graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1963 and is recognized internationally for her contributions to the advancement of contemporary architecture, for her concern for the social issues of urban conservation, and for the role of architecture in the public realm.
