IIT Architecture Fall Lecture Series Features Iñaki Alday Founder, Aldayjover Arquitectura y Paisaje, Barcelona and Quesada Professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Virginia

IIT College of Architecture’s fall lecture series features Iñaki Alday, the founder of Aldayjover Arquitectura y Paisaje, Barcelona/Charlottesville and Quesada Professor and Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Virginia who will present “Hyperreal Vectors” at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Crown Hall’s Center Core.

Iñaki Alday (Zaragoza, 1965) founded Aldayjover Arquitectura y Paisaje — a public works and landscape architecture office — in 1996 with Margarita Jover, with a careful and specific approach to site, the varied constraints and values of which are understood as a hyperreality which, when embraced, allows for beauty as an astonishing result.

The firm has designed such outstanding and awarded buildings as the Mill Cultural Center (Utebo, 2004) and the District Heating and Cooling Station (Zaragoza, 2008), landscape works The Water Park (Zaragoza, 2008) and the Recovery of the Gallego River waterfronts (Zuera, 2001), as well as urban public spaces including the integration of the new Tramway (Zaragoza, 2011). In May 2011, Alday was appointed Chair of the Department of Architecture & Quesada Professor of Architecture at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

All lectures are free and open to the public. Call 312.567.3312 or email for information.
