IIT Engineering Undergraduates Win Tau Beta Pi Scholarships

Robert Morrison (BME, ECE 4th year) and Jingyu Lee (CAEE 5th year) were recently awarded Tau Beta Pi Scholarships for their high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.

“I am honored to receive this award,” said Morrison. “It’s wonderful to be recognized in such a fashion.”

Drawn from a pool of 328 applicants, only 200 undergraduates received this prestigious, national scholarship. All applicants had to be members of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honors society. Morrison and Lee will each receive $2,000 to go toward their senior years at IIT.

“At first, I couldn’t believe I received this prestigious award,” said Lee. “It means a lot to me to receive recognition from an honors society of such high caliber.”

The specific award Morrison and Lee received was a Record Scholarship, awarded for the first time in 2001, in honor of Leroy E. Record. A generous bequest by Record funds the award.
