IIT Institute of Design Faculty, Students, Alumni Among Globally Renowned Design Experts to Present in Hong Kong

IIT Institute of Design (ID) Dean Patrick Whitney, along with several faculty members, alumni and students traveled to Hong Kong last week to present at the Knowledge of Design Week Conference, June 25-29, 2012.

Dean Whitney moderated a forum, Global Design Strategy, presented jointly with the Hong Kong Design Centre. The full-day forum introduced some of the world’s most renowned CEO’s and leaders who have helped shape strategy for various industry sectors ranging from health care and consumer goods to IT and electronics.

Forum speakers included Dennis Weil, MDes ’01, from McDonald’s Corporation and Andy Cargile, MDes ’96, from Teague Aviation Studio, along with current ID student Navroze Godrej, Godrej and Boyce Industries, India.

Additional speakers from ID included Guillermo Krovblit, MDes/MBA ’11, Yu Guo, MDes ’00, and Assistant Professor Anijo Mathew. They shared case studies, innovation strategies and human centered methods that have helped guide their work.

The five-day conference, attended by design practitioners, educators and executives from some of the world’s leading companies, also featured programs on aging and design, global business perspectives and design education with over a dozen interactive workshops on topics such as design engineering, and marketing research and analysis.
