IIT Stuart School of Business Celebrates Beta Gamma Sigma Business Achievement Recipient

IIT Stuart School of Business recognized John P. Calamos, Sr. (ECON ‘63, M.B.A. ‘70) as the 2015 Beta Gamma Sigma Business Achievement Award Recipient and 2015 Chapter Honoree on May 1.

Calamos is founder, chairman, CEO and global Co-Chief Investment Officer of Calamos Investments, LLC, in Naperville, Ill. He serves as an Illinois Institute of Technology Trustee and member of the IIT Stuart Board of Overseers. In 2011, Calamos established endowed chairs in business and philosophy with his wife Mae as part of their $10 million gift to Illinois Tech.

The Beta Gamma Sigma Business Achievement Award is presented to honor individuals for significant achievement in business through the traditional corporate route, with one to three individuals selected annually.

Beta Gamma Sigma CEO Christina Carosella recognized Calamos at the ceremony, which was held in conjunction with IIT Stuart’s celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Illinois Institute of Technology. Carosella also presented IIT President John Anderson, IIT Provost and President-Elect Alan Cramb, and IIT Stuart School of Business Dean Harvey Kahalas with a plaque commemorating IIT’s anniversary as part of the event.
