Research published by Ricky Cooper, assistant professor of finance, IIT Stuart School of Business, was recently cited by the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and referenced in an article on ETF.com. The article and SEC discussions addressed recent actions by investment management companies Precidian Investments and Eaton Vance. The SEC advocated that Cooper’s research and recommendations move the bar in discussions on ethical approaches to Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), particularly in relation to high frequency trading and market activity. ETFs represent hundreds of billions of dollars in investments. Cooper is collaborating with Craig M. Lewis, CPA, Madison S. Wigginton Professor of Finance at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University and a former chief economist at the SEC on this research.
