Illinois Tech Women’s Soccer Team Lose First Road Game

The Illinois Tech women’s soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Trine University last Friday, August 30 in Angola, Indiana. With a soaring heat index at kickoff, the injury-plagued Scarlet Hawks were unable to find their way. Here’s a recap of the game:

IIT Tech Goalkeeper Roxanne Myers was sent off in the 33rd minute after the referee decided she denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. Backup Mariah Kuitse stepped in and made some key saves to keep it all even at halftime despite playing with only 10 players.

With the man advantage, Trine was able to find the back of the net in the 67th minute as Trisha King who appeared to be in an offside position at first glance managed to knock a missed shot by Skyler Reed into the empty net. The Thunders were then able to convert a header on a corner kick in the 70th minute to seal the victory.

The Scarlet Hawks fall to 0-2 on the season.
