The State of Illinois recently increased the 2018 personal exemption amount to include the cost-of-living adjustment. This has resulted in the personal exemption amount for tax year 2018 to be increased from $2,000 to $2,225. If you are claiming personal exemptions on your IL-W-4, you may notice a slight decrease in your state tax withheld beginning on your next payroll check.
