The Illinois Tech University Assessment Committee (UAC) completed the Higher Learning Commission’s (HLC) Assessment Academy on October 7, after a four-year institutional project to strengthen the assessment of student learning and outcomes. Through this initiative, the UAC and its three committees—the Core Curriculum Assessment Committee, University Program Assessment Committee, and Co-Curricular Assessment Committee—worked to implement sustainable assessment practices and build a culture of continuous improvement across the university. By systematically evaluating student learning and using findings to guide improvements, Illinois Tech can identify opportunities to strengthen students’ academic and co-curricular experiences. These efforts support the university’s commitment to educational quality and institutional effectiveness and contribute to its ongoing HLC accreditation efforts. The project continues as the University Assessment Committee, to oversee and support learning assessments here at Illinois Tech.
