New faculty joining Illinois Tech in 2018–19 include university Provost Peter Kilpatrick, as well as researchers and scholars in Armour College of Engineering, Chicago-Kent College of Law, the College of Architecture, the College of Science, the Ed Kaplan Family Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship, Lewis College of Human Sciences, and the School of Applied Technology.

Peter joins Illinois Tech as the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. He served on the faculty of North Carolina State University in chemical engineering from 1983 to 2007, the last eight-plus years as the department head. Most recently, Peter served as a professor and McCloskey Dean of Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. Peter earned his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota and his research involves surface and interfacial phenomena and molecular self-assembly.
