Illinois Tech Welcomes New Interim Co-Athletic Directors and AVP for External Affairs

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that Usha Gilmore and Marc Colwell have been named interim co-directors of athletics at Illinois Tech, and to welcome Adrienne Irmer to our university as our new associate vice president for external affairs.

Gilmore joined Illinois Tech in 2013 as the head women’s basketball coach, and has served as the associate director of athletics for facilities and compliance since February 2020.

Colwell is now entering his 10th season with the Illinois Tech men’s soccer program and has been head coach for the past eight years. Colwell was named assistant director of athletics in 2012 and has served as the associate director of athletics for operations since 2018.

In her new position, Irmer will oversee a range of government relations initiatives for the university. She recently served on the legislative staff of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, managing legislation from the Cook County Bureau of Asset Management before stepping away to run for elected office. As a National Urban Fellow, Irmer received her M.P.A. from the City University of New York, Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, and served as special assistant to the city manager for the City of Beverly Hills, California. She received her bachelor’s in biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Please join me in welcoming these three leaders to their new positions. We look forward to working with them to help usher in the next phase of student success at Illinois Tech.

Sincerely,

Alan W. Cramb

President, Illinois Institute of Technology
