The Illinois Tech women’s soccer team continued their run of semesters with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Scarlet Hawks posted a collective 3.4 grade point average for the 2012 spring semester, marking the highest semester GPA in recent years for women’s soccer.
The team was honored with a 2011 NSACC College Team Academic Award, 2011 NAIA Scholar Team Award, and boasted seven CCAC All-Academic performers this season: Emily Tilton (Senior, Biology), Noel Deis (Senior, Electrical Engineering), Samantha Cosenza (Senior, Mech. Engineering), Grace Durbin (Senior, Business-Finance), Lauren Wissman (Senior, Architecture), Amanda Smith (Senior, Humanities), Diana Otero (Junior, Bio-medical Engineering).
Otero was also named to the ESPN Academic All-District First Team.
Athletically, the Scarlet Hawks qualified for CCAC Tournament with the #5 seed and had a school record five game conference unbeaten streak (4 wins, 1 draw). They defeated No. 20 Robert Morris 1-0 in regular season and had the most goals and 3rd best goals against average in a season.
