Important Commencement Day Instructions for Participating Faculty

Thank you for participating in the 2022–2023 Illinois Institute of Technology Commencement ceremony. Here are some important instructions that will help make Commencement day run smoothly.

Robing

Faculty who have RSVP’d and plan to participate in the Main Ceremony should report to McCormick Place on the morning of Commencement, Saturday, May 13, at 7:30 a.m. for robing and lineup in the North Building, Hall B1, in the backstage area marked for faculty robing.

A continental breakfast will also be served.

You must pick up your regalia prior to Saturday’s Main and College Ceremonies from your College Ceremony planner.

The faculty procession for the Main Ceremony will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m.

Two separate College Ceremonies will also take place in McCormick Place, North Building, Hall B1.

• College Ceremony #1 will be for Armour College of Engineering, College of Architecture, and the Institute of Design. This ceremony will begin promptly at noon. Receptions for these units will follow at 3 p.m.

• College Ceremony #2 will be for the College of Computing, Lewis College of Science and Letters, and Stuart School of Business. This ceremony will begin promptly at 3 p.m. Receptions for these units will begin at noon.

At the end of the Commencement ceremonies on May 13, faculty must return any rented regalia to the backstage robing area in Hall B1, Level 3.

Ph.D. Hooding

Ph.D. hooding will take place during the College Ceremonies. For any questions you have regarding the Ph.D. hooding, please contact Jonathan Harmon via email at jharmon4@iit.edu.

Parking

Please view the McCormick Place website for onsite parking information. Because Illinois Tech’s Commencement events will be held in the North Building of the convention center, McCormick Place asks that guests use Lot A for parking. Faculty will be provided with parking vouchers. Alternatively, guests may elect to park on Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus for free and then take public transportation (Green Line “L”) or a cab/ride share to McCormick Place.

Thank you for your attention. If you have any questions about your College Ceremony, please contact the correct College Ceremony planner for your event. We look forward to seeing you on Commencement day.
