The Office of Institutional Advancement won a 2014 CASE Circle of Excellence Bronze Award in the Single Day Special Events category for its Henry Townley Heald Award Presentation and Dinner held in October 2013.
The Heald Award was presented to University Regent John W. Rowe, past chairman of the IIT Board of Trustees and chairman emeritus of Exelon Corporation, for his commitment to leadership, education, and service. The unique event celebrated Rowe and the impact he has made on both IIT and the City of Chicago. The event had a red-carpet, movie premiere theme to coincide with the debut of a nine-minute video telling the story of how a young Rowe became a philanthropist, entitled “No Ordinary Man.” Produced by Madhouse, the video was a light-hearted, comical, coming-of-age approach to Rowe’s fictional life achievements and successes. The evening’s program included student and guest speakers, presentation of the award, and an announcement naming a new teaching award in honor of Rowe.
