Dan Tomal, adjunct professor in IIT School of Applied Technology, Industrial Technology and Management Program (INTM), conducted a workshop for Chicago’s Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce 20th Annual Project Awareness – Procurement Conference on March 19, 2015. Participants were business owners and project managers interested in securing contract work with the city, county, state, Metra, and private sector. Tomal teaches INTM courses on Communications for the Workplace and Electronics in Industry. His experience includes facilitating a longstanding partnership between Illinois Institute of Technology and Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA)/City of Chicago, to conduct energy audits of buildings. Under his guidance, Illinois Tech students have opportunities to work with ECA to develop proposals for real energy projects for Chicago landmarks, including Soldier Field and the Biograph Theater. His session for Project Awareness focused on how to identify business opportunities, and create business plans to get results.
