Job Duties Expanded for IIT Director of HEA Compliance

Christopher White, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, has announced the expansion of IIT Director of Higher Education Act (HEA) Compliance Virginia Foster’s job duties to include conducting internal audits for Title IV compliance.

Foster will compile and review data to help ensure IIT maintains compliance with the law. Title IV is a section of the HEA, which is the federal law that governs the administration of federal student aid programs. The HEA was originally passed in 1965 and signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson and it must be reauthorized by Congress approximately every five years.

As Director of HEA Compliance, Foster is responsible for keeping abreast of changes in the law as well as revisions to applicable regulations. She is also responsible for helping to educate members of the IIT community about the law’s requirements and monitoring IIT’s internal compliance. In addition to her responsibilities with respect to Title IV, Foster is also the Title IX Coordinator for IIT. Her responsibilities with respect to Title IX concern providing education about and ensuring that the University responds appropriately to student complaints of sexual harassment.
