July 17 Target Deadline and IRS Non-Filer Status Update

Monday, July 17 is the target deadline for verification. Students who turn in all requested documentation by 5 p.m. on July 17 and attend to any subsequent questions regarding the verification process will have their federal aid disbursed on the first day of class. If you are accepting loans, be sure to complete all loan requirements as well.

The Department of Education recently changed its guidance on the Confirmation of IRS Non-Filer Status verification requirement. For reference, this requirement was requested when students or parents indicated they had not filed taxes for the 2015 tax year. As a result, we no longer need to collect the letter of non-filing from the IRS. For this reason, this requirement was waived from the 2017–18 academic year for applicable students.
