On November 22 Jay Korhonen was named the Liberal Arts Conference’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week. The honor is a result of his performance at the University of Chicago Phoenix Invite this past weekend.

Korhonen started the weekend strong on November 17 in 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as part of Illinois Tech’s eighth-place finisher (1:27.94). On November 18, he placed 11th in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a season-best time of 1:58.18 and was a part of the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay team that earned a sixth-place finish at 7:09.63. He saved his best swim for November 19, placing second in the 400 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 4:10.34. He also placed seventh in the 200 Yard Breaststroke on Sunday at 2:12.55.

The Scarlet Hawks will resume the 2017–18 schedule on Saturday, December 2 at 1 p.m. with the annual Ted Erikson Invite at Ekco Pool.
