Men’s Basketball Cracks Century Mark for First Time in 10 Years

The Illinois Tech Men’s Basketball team won its eighth game in a row and moved to 10-3 overall this week, cracking the 100-point mark for the first time since 2007. The Scarlet Hawks downed East-West University 101-88.

How it Happened

  • Illinois Tech started the game on a roll, building a 22-8 advantage after a Vignesh Rajagopal three-pointer at the 12:15 mark.
  • East-West was able to answer most of Illinois Tech’s offensive success the rest of the first half, as the Scarlet Hawks led by 12 (47-35) at halftime.
  • The second half started off much like the first half, as Illinois Tech was able to increase its lead to 21 (69-48), prompting the Phantoms to call a timeout.
  • East-West, however, put on a press that brought the team right back into the contest. The Phantoms’ Lorenzo Dewberry scored nine points and recorded two steals in a span of just 26 seconds to trim the Hawks lead to 11.
  • A Dewberry three would later get the lead down to 10 at the 9:24 mark, but the Scarlet Hawks would ride Anthony Mosley Jr.‘s 28 second half points to build the lead back to over 20 and eventually to the 101-88 win.

Scarlet Hawks Standouts

  • Mosley Jr. scored 35 points and was 15-of-19 from the free throw line, his second time scoring 30+ this season. The sophomore point guard also added eight assists and played all 40 minutes for the second game in a row.
  • Samuel Rarick (21 points, 15 rebounds), Max Hisatake (16 points, 10 rebounds), and Jake Digiorgio (10 points, 17 rebounds) all recorded double-doubles.
  • Parker Joncus scored 11 points.
