Men’s Soccer Drops Close Match to Manchester

The Illinois Tech Men’s Soccer team traveled to Indiana to oppose Manchester University on September 25. In a back-and-forth match, Manchester prevailed 3-2.

How it Happened

  • Just nine minutes into the match, Manchester started the scoring. Ben Niederhelman scored on an unassisted goal to put ManU up 1-0.
  • Zach Whritenour would respond quickly in the 22nd minute, making a shot in the upper right hand corner to tie things at 1-1.
  • In the 41st minute, Ola Ladapo scored from the left side to give ManU a 2-1 halftime advantage.
  • Noah Griffith scored in the 59th minute to tie the score a 2-2.
  • Just over a minute after Griffith’s tally, Niederhelman scored the decisive goal for Manchester. The 3-2 score put Manchester ahead for good.

  • Griffith led the Hawks with three shots, three shots on goal to go along with his tally.
  • Whritenour scored on his only shot attempt. It was his first collegiate goal.
  • Brandon Bortei-Doku attempted two shots.
