The Illinois Tech Men’s Soccer team traveled to nearby Concordia University Chicago on September 20. Behind some timely scoring and strong defense, Illinois Tech won 2-0.

How it Happened
- While possession favored Illinois Tech, it was a relatively quiet first half for both sides. Things changed in the 28th minute when Norikazu Honda notched his first goal of the season off of free kick to give the Scarlet Hawks a 1-0 lead.
- An Emmanuel Zambrano bicycle kick in front of the net missed just high in the final minutes of the half, allowing the halftime score to remain the same.
- In the middle of the second half, Noah Griffith narrowly missed a shot through a tight window, hitting the left of the goal and bouncing back into play.
- Illinois Tech scored again in the 82nd minute, as a Honda cross in front of the net set up Zambrano for the goal.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Honda scored once on five shots while also adding an assist. He also tallied two shots on goal.
- Zambrano scored once on two shots.
- Anastasios Manolis stopped one shot in net and won his third straight match.
- Griffith and Idris Ayantoye attempted four shots a piece.
For the Foes
- Gibril Jobe led the Cougars with two shots.
Stats to Know
- The Scarlet Hawks outshot the Cougars 21-5 for the match. They also won the shots on goal tally 7-1.
- Illinois Tech committed 14 fouls compared to CUC’s 12, but the Cougars recorded the only two yellow cards of the match (both in the first half).
