MMAE Professor Nash to speak on ‘Low Cost Titanium Parts’ at MTCC this Tuesday

Is titanium a material whose time has come? Professor of Materials Science Philip Nash at the MMAE Department will speak on “Low Cost Titanium Parts” at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, in the MTCC auditorium. Nash will discuss the processes involved in the uses of the titanium alloy, which has less than 60 percent of the density of steel, and the relative advantages and disadvantages of titanium manufacture and use in industry currently. Nash’s research and scholarship in physical and process metallurgy is extensive and distinguished. He is director of the Thermal Processing Technology Center at IIT. His presentation is part of the ASM Chicago Regional Chapter meeting hosted at IIT on January 10.
