Illinois Institute of Technology believes in the importance of creating a safe and healthy environment for all of our community members. To that end, the university has partnered with EVERFI to provide trainings that will help us all be informed on topics vital to achieving this goal. This online training, in addition to being highly interactive and engaging, is based in research around the best practices for healthy communities.
All new Spring 2020 undergraduate and graduate students should have received an email from EVERFI in your official Illinois Tech email accounts. The subject line of the email should say, “Online Course Assigned to You by Illinois Institute of Technology.” All new undergraduate and graduate students should complete the online training by January 31, 2020. If you do not complete this course, an alert will appear on your account.
Below are some FAQs. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Office of Community Standards at conduct@iit.edu.
1) What is this training?
This is an interactive training module sponsored by EVERFI and Illinois Tech that addresses healthy relationships, sexual harassment and assault, consent, and the bystander effect.
2) Why am I required to participate?
In line with the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act, it requires all college students to complete the preventative training.
3) How do I access my training module?
You will receive an email in your Hawk.iit.edu account. Just click on the link in the email. We recommend that you use a desktop or laptop computer, however, the module does work on iPads.
4) How long will it take me to complete?
The training can take anywhere between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. The material addresses many different topics. Depending on your level of interest, additional resources are available for review.
5) I have previously taken the Campus Clarity and/or other Sexual Harassment training course. Do I have to take it again?
Yes. As a university, we are required to ensure that students are trained on Violence Against Women Act/Title IX/sexual misconduct issues. In the past we have only provided the course to incoming students. We believe that requiring all students to take it every year is a much better practice, and is in compliance with the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act that requires annual training for students who take classes at Illinois Tech.
6) What if I have not received an email?
If you have not received an email, please contact the Office of Community Standards at conduct@iit.edu.
7) What if I am not able to complete the training?
As this training is mandated by the government, it is required that you complete this course by January 31, 2020. If you do not complete this course, an alert will appear on your account. If you need an extension to finish the training, please contact Raul Fernandez, Assistant Director of Community Standards at conduct@iit.edu.
