No Smoking Ban Includes E-Cigarettes

IIT is subject to the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act and the Chicago Clean Indoor Air Ordinance. Last month, the City of Chicago voted to include e-cigarettes in its indoor smoking ban. Smoking e-cigarettes on IIT campuses (including in classrooms) is considered illegal.

The University’s policy indicates that “smoking including the use of e-cigarettes and comparable devices, is banned in all enclosed public places and places of employment as well as student dormitories.” For more information, read theĀ policy.
