Phetchanpheng Scores Twice in Women’s Soccer Win

Illinois Tech Women’s Soccer came into their September 23 matchup at Rockford University looking for its second win on the season. Illinois Tech left with what it set out to accomplish, as the Scarlet Hawks downed the Regents 2-0.

How it Happened

  • The Illinois Tech offense made its presence felt early, as Anida Phetchanpheng and Kirsten Robinson each attempted two shots within the first 10 minutes. However, Rockford’s defense held tight in the early going.
  • Illinois Tech would get its first goal across in the 42nd minute. Phetchanpheng scored her third goal of the season on a cross from Venika Jarvis to put the Hawks up 1-0. It was Jarvis’ first collegiate assist.
  • The Scarlet Hawks peppered the Regents with more shots as the second half progressed. Phetchanpheng found the back of the net once again in the 77th minute, this time rewarding Madison Harris with her first collegiate assist.
  • Illinois Tech’s defense locked down the Regent offense as time wound down, holding Rockford without a shot attempt in the second half.
