Research Specialist Position Available at Galvin Library

IIT’s Paul V. Galvin Library invites applications for the Research Specialist Program. The purpose of this position is to train students in the necessary skills to work in the library and provide research assistance to their fellow students. The position begins in fall 2014. Research Specialists will assist their peers in finding, evaluating, and using information to meet their research needs in all subjects. Delivery methods will include face-to-face meetings in the library or elsewhere on campus, and instant messaging. Research Specialists will document their answers to the questions they receive to build an answer repository. Specialists will have the opportunity to design and create projects that address the research and information needs of students in a relatable and useful manner.

Students will be required to work at the library during the 2014 fall semester. Students will have to commit to working 8-10 hours per week, including evening hours as late as 11:30 p.m. and weekends.

Eligibility Requirements:
Currently enrolled as a full-time IIT student
Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Must be enrolled at IIT as a full-time student for at least 2 semesters prior to 2014 academic year

Students will be required to submit an application along with a writing sample, which should be a research paper with a bibliography no later than Friday, April 25, 2014. Submit applications online to library@iit.edu.
