Residence Hall Director Wins State Award

Hilda Rojas-Duarte, a first-year residence hall director for IIT Residence and Greek Life, was recently presented with the Outstanding New Professional Award for Illinois through the Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers. She was recognized for her many contributions to Residence and Greek Life at IIT as well as at her previous institution, Marian University.

Rojas-Duarte has been integral to the success of Residence and Greek Life during the fall 2014 semester. She came to Illinois Tech with a fresh perspective on student support and care, and management of a residence hall complex. She brings a new sense of vibrancy and creativity to staff that has been invaluable. Rojas-Duarte has also taken on numerous projects for the department, including Student Life leader selection, social media marketing (you can find her as “Hilda” at IIT on Facebook), and student leader training.

The staff of Residence and Greek Life are proud to have Rojas-Duarte on their team and are thrilled to learn of her recognition from the regional professional organization.
