Congratulations are extended to Sergeant Major Mark Bowman, who has been the Military Science instructor for the Army ROTC at IIT since 2007, for his recent promotion to Command Sergeant Major for the Illinois Army National Guard. This is the most senior enlisted leadership position in the state, serving the needs of some 10,000 soldiers. With this promotion, Bowman is leaving his position at IIT.

In addition to his service at the University, Bowman has served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, most recently as Command Sergeant Major for Task Force Phoenix, and was featured in a live video feed from Kabul during President Barack Obama’s Commander in Chief Ball after the President’s inauguration in January 2009.
