Campus Organizations Host Winter Necessities Drive

The Student Government Association (SGA), Residence and Greek Life (RGL), and Office of Campus Life (OCL) are hosting a drive to collect winter necessities and toys for area children. Cooper Dual Language Academy reached out to Illinois Tech to help with their Letters to Santa program. Each letter includes a need and a want (you can purchase one or the other), and gifts should be valued at $25. If you are interested you can stop by Laura Zamudio’s office (in Residence and Greek Life) and select a letter in person.

If you do not wish to choose an individual student’s letter, you can purchase a gift from the general donation items listed below and drop the items off at your convenience. We will have collection boxes in the main Residence and Greek Life Office suite, as well as several locations throughout The McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC). Donations can also be dropped off in Patrick Fina’s office, in the Campus Life suite, Room 217. These items will be paired with letters of children that were not sponsored by an individual, department, or organization. The gifts do not need to be wrapped in advance but you may wrap them if you wish. While this drive does focus on a specific holiday, the items the children have requested fall under what many of us may consider basic necessities. We would like to have all the gifts collected by Monday, December 14. They will be delivered to the school on Tuesday, December 15. If you know of individuals outside of Illinois Tech that would like to donate, please share this information with them.
