Student volunteers are needed for the 2018 Opening Commencement Ceremony to serve as language translators for guests. The Opening Ceremony will be held on the Mies (Main) Campus on Saturday, May 12 at the Ed Glancy Baseball Field, and our graduates will be lining up in The McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) for a procession to the field. We will need student translators stationed in various areas along the route and on the field to assist our many guests coming to see their graduates on this important occasion.
Student Language Translators will need to be available from 7 a.m. until approximately noon on May 12 and will be asked to attend an informational meeting in early May. You will hold a sign that states the language you speak, and guests may approach you to ask questions.
There is no monetary compensation. However, any student volunteers who live in the dorms will be able to extend their housing contract until Sunday, May 13. Attendance will be taken. You will receive a light breakfast, lunch, and a volunteer t-shirt. This is not a paid position. Volunteers will not receive a social security card.
If you would like to volunteer as a student language translator, fill out the Student Translator Volunteer Form.
There are a limited number of translators needed for each language. You will receive a confirmation email if you are chosen as a Student Translator volunteer.
Thank you in advance for being an integral part of this special day and helping to make our guests feel welcome.
