Summer Course for International Students – English Studies: Improving Communication

• Do you need more structured conversation practice in order to feel confident communicating in English?
• Would you like to feel better prepared for your fall classes?

If you answered yes, the course “English Studies: Improving Communication” (PL 496) is for you. In the course, international students develop linguistic and cultural strategies to increase general speaking fluency. Students learn essential vocabulary and idiomatic expressions and how to incorporate them into their natural speech. Instruction covers current events and American culture. Instruction is varied to allow for many different learning styles and the most immediate needs of the students.

PL 496 is a non-credit course (pass/fail only) offered during the summer term on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 – 4:40 pm from June 6 – July 30, 2011. For all IIT students, the course fee has been discounted to only $495.
