Sustainability Policy and Planning Expert Aaron Koch Discusses Chicago’s Green Infrastructure

Aaron Koch, Deputy Commissioner for Sustainability in the City of Chicago’s Department of Water Management, will discuss Chicago’s sustainable water infrastructure during a discussion from 3:40-4:40 pm today, September 11, 2013, in Engineering 1. In his role, Koch is responsible for implementing the water sustainability initiatives outlined in Sustainable Chicago 2015, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s roadmap for environmental stewardship and economic development.

During tomorrow’s discussion, Koch will review Chicago’s green infrastructure implementation to date and share the next phase of planning for green infrastructure to protect Chicago’s waterways and neighborhoods. He also will highlight strategies in the planning process for successful coordination and implementation.

Koch’s talk is part of the Urban Water Systems lecture series, co-hosted by College of Architecture Professor Mary Pat Mattson and Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Professor, which offers a series of seminar-style discussions focused on storm water green infrastructure issues in Chicago. The lectures and discussions are open to the public.
