Tau Beta Pi, the oldest engineering national honor society, will present this semester’s Engineering Futures event on the topic of Group Process on Saturday, November 12 from noon–4 p.m. in the John T. Rettaliata Engineering Center Auditorium. Guest speaker J.P. Blackford, national president of Tau Beta Pi, will host an interactive workshop meant to better every student’s professional development and foster skills useful in both college and the workforce.
The two major topics covered in this Engineering Futures event are:
- Meeting Management: how to prepare effectively for meetings by knowing when they are necessary, whom to invite, where to hold them, how to organize an agenda, and how to assign roles
- Team Dynamics: how to keep a meeting on track by knowing the methods for dealing with changes in topics, participant criticism, interruptions, and other meeting roadblocks
