The Student Center for Diversity and Inclusion invites IIT faculty, staff and students to consider supporting the Young Women’s Leadership Charter School for one of its end-of-year projects listed below:
College Admission Mock Interviewer
In 11th grade, students participate in mock college admission interviews and present a college admission portfolio to enhance students’ presentation and people skills. Volunteers serve as “mock college admissions officers” and interview students on a panel of two volunteers from 7:45-9:15 am or 9:15-11:45 am on Friday, May 2, 2014 at YWLCS located at 2641 S. Calumet Avenue.
Science Fair Judge
Students in grades 7-11 present their observations, data analysis, and findings at the YWLCS Science Fair from 8-11:30 am on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the school where they study one of two projects: Chicago River or topics in chemistry. Using a defined rubric, volunteer judges and teachers collaborate to evaluate the presentations and displays. No science experience necessary.
Promotion Presentation Evaluator
Students in the 8th, 10th, and 12th grades give end-of-year presentations on various core subjects. Together with teachers, volunteers give feedback using a rubric that evaluates students’ ability to demonstrate independent thinking, articulate what they have learned, and share what they know with others.
12th Grade: May 20-22, 2014 at Jenner & Block (the specific shifts are listed below) located at 353 North Clark Street.
