Two Bartolome Goals Propels Hawks to Homecoming Win

The Illinois Tech Men’s Soccer team hosted Defiance College for its Homecoming match on September 17. In an exciting match, the Scarlet Hawks were victorious 2-1.

How It Happened

  • After a slow first few minutes of the match, it was the Scarlet Hawks who struck first. Santiago Bartolome scored in the 12th minute to give Illinois Tech a 1-0 lead.
  • Despite outshooting the Yellow Jackets 9-1 in the first half, Bartolome’s goal was the only one the team could muster for the rest of the frame.
  • In the second half, Illinois Tech’s defense stood strong until the 78th minute, when Defiance netted its only shot on goal of the match for a score to tie things at 1-1.
  • Bartolome had more in store, however, as he scored with just 1:20 left to play to give Illinois Tech the decisive tally.
