Chicago-Kent College of Law’s Lori Andrews and Sheldon Nahmod have been listed in the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, a peer-review publication that names leading lawyers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia plus more than 60 additional countries.
Andrews is named as one of six leading Illinois lawyers in the area of biotechnology law. Nahmod is named as one of four leading Illinois lawyers in the area of municipal law.
To compile its lists, Best Lawyers surveys thousands of lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical and legal practice areas. If the votes for an attorney are positive enough for inclusion in Best Lawyers, that attorney must maintain those votes in subsequent polls to remain on the list for the next edition.
Andrews, an expert on emerging technologies, is a Distinguished Professor of Law and director of Illinois Tech’s Institute for Science, Law and Technology. She is the author of I Know Who You Are and I Saw What You Did: Social Networks and the Death of Privacy (Free Press 2012, paperback 2013) as well as 10 additional nonfiction books, including Genetics: Ethics, Law And Policy (West Publishing 4th ed. 2015) (with M. Mehlman & M. Rothstein), and more than 150 articles on biotechnology, genetics and social networks. She has provided advice on genetic and reproductive technologies to Congress, the World Health Organization, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the governments of several foreign nations.
