On Tuesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. Paul V. Galvin Library’s University Archives and Special Collections (UASC) will host a reception for the Progressive Community Church in recognition of their donation of papers to UASC. The Progressive Community Church, established in 1922, is one of America’s first independent, non-denominational African-American churches and has been a significant institution on Chicago’s South Side.
This donation marks an important addition in UASC’s continuing initiative to document the people and institutions that are and have been central to the history of Bronzeville and neighboring communities.
Light refreshments will be provided.
