The Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) is proud to present “Us, Them, and You,” a series of trainings and discussions intended to meet the health and wellness needs of Illinois Tech students.
Us, Them, and You is a drop-in group that occurs once a month at SHWC and is facilitated by one of the staff counselors. There is no need to sign up or RSVP. If a topic interests you, you can simply drop in and attend. The drop-in group meetings will either have a set agenda or will provide you with a safe space to process important issues that are affecting the world, the country, and you.
The first group will be held on Thursday, September 28 from 12:50–1:50 p.m. in the Student Health and Wellness Center. The topic is DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). This group will be a space for students to discuss the issues they are experiencing in response to the current events related to DACA. Within the group, they will also be guided in how to appropriately and respectfully express their views with one another and in the community. Healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with these concerns will be introduced and discussed.
