Using Human Participants in Your Research? New IRB Application is Now Available

All research projects involving human participants must be approved by Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB reviews research proposals that involve human participants. Even research with minimal involvement of human participants, such as surveys or questionnaires, require some procedural IRB review.

The IRB application has been revised in several ways. It now includes a longer list of populations Illinois Tech researchers work with and includes first person language. The term “subjects” is now replaced with “participants.” The IRB application can be found here along with the IRB instructions which include a sample consent template that the IRB office strongly encourages researchers to use.

Send an email to irb@iit.edu if you have any questions or would like to submit an application for review.
