Welcome Jamshid Mohammadi as the Interim Director for Center for Learning Innovation

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Jamshid Mohammadi, professor of civil and architectural engineering and dean of the Graduate College, as the interim director of the Center for Learning Innovation (CLI).

Jamshid started his career at Illinois Tech in 1979 as an assistant professor of civil engineering and has been instrumental in the development of engineering at Illinois Tech for more than 40 years. For 14 years he was the chair of the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering. During his tenure he was successful in receiving Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology accreditation for the first time for the architectural engineering program.

Jamshid is a passionate and accomplished educator with renowned expertise in civil and architectural engineering. His research focuses on structural engineering and building design with emphasis on structural reliability, failure investigation, probabilistic studies and fatigue, fracture reliability, and bridge engineering. Jamshid’s publication record spans more than 150 papers in journals and conference proceedings, textbooks, book chapters, and research and investigation reports. He is a licensed civil engineer, professional engineer, and structural engineer, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and has also served as the editor of ASCE’s Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction.

Over the past two years, Jamshid has been a dedicated advocate for innovation and intellectual discovery as the vice provost for Graduate Academic Affairs. I am confident he will bring this dedication to educational excellence to his role at the Center for Learning Innovation. Jamshid will oversee the center’s activities including those in promoting and facilitating Illinois Tech’s efforts in all aspects of higher education.

I look forward to supporting Jamshid as he finds creative and meaningful ways to engage across the university in all of our initiatives, to continue Illinois Tech’s leadership in shaping the future of learning.

Please join me in welcoming Jamshid in his new role at Illinois Tech.

Sincerely,

Peter Kilpatrick
