Why is Blue Cross Blue Shield Calling me?

Have you received a phone call recently from Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)? Are you worried about it? Don’t be. BCBS has outbound calling programs in place that seek to assist our health plan members with accessing the best care possible. Here are some reasons you may have received a call:

Benefits Value Advisor (BVA)/Member Rewards: If your doctor has ordered an advanced imaging procedure, such as an MRI or a CT scan, you’ve probably received a call to assist you with comparison shopping for these procedures. BVA will help you identify the most cost-effective options near you, and Member Rewards will pay a cash incentive when you use a more cost effective option. All options are vetted by BCBS and adhere to the same standards of care.

Blue Care Connection (BCC): BCC is a comprehensive program that provides resources and assistance to members with several different aspects of their care. For example, members with chronic illnesses may receive a call from a nurse regarding the Condition Management program. BCBS will also periodically send email and/or direct mail pieces regarding Lifestyle Management programs like weight management or smoking cessation. There’s even a Behavioral Health program available for those with depression, substance abuse, anxiety, or other mental health concerns.
