WISER to Co-Sponsor 2012 UIC Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy

IIT’s Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) will serve as one of the co-sponsors of the 2012 Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy (SISE), to be hosted by University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) on August 9 – 17. The SISE theme, “Election 2012: Energy, Economics, and Environment” will feature an intense interdisciplinary workshop for graduate and senior-level undergraduate students. Using the presidential election as the point of departure for a critical analysis of national energy and sustainability issues, students will be enveloped in discussions about national challenges such as energy security, economic recovery and growth, U.S. competitiveness, and climate change. Several IIT faculty will serve as instructors for the program.

Participants should have an expressed interest in sustainability and energy as evidenced by either educational or practical experience. Applications for the summer institute are now being accepted (deadline for application: June 1, 2012).
