Coming off of the first United States Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament appearance in school history, the Illinois Institute of Technology Women’s Soccer team has released its 2016 schedule. It features 20 total matches, 10 regular season matches at Stuart Field, and a trip to California.
After a home exhibition against Morton College on Saturday, August 20, the Scarlet Hawks will open the regular season on Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m. against Knox College (13-5-2 in 2015) at Stuart Field. It will be the second consecutive season the Scarlet Hawks open the season at home.
“As a program, we try to provide a great experience for our athletes,” said Head Coach Roshane Ellison, who is heading into his second season. “Taking this trip to California will enable us to bond as a team and compete against two high-level opponents.”
Illinois Tech looks to get back to the USCAA Tournament, which is scheduled to take place from November 2-5. The USCAA’s top ten teams qualify for the tournament.
“We have a very competitive schedule this fall, but our goal is always to respect each opponent and try our best to win every game on our schedule,” said Ellison. “The team is very excited about our schedule, and I am confident we have the team and players to compete with the best and be progressive as a program. I am confident we will make Illinois Tech proud.”
The Scarlet Hawks finished 9-7-4 in 2015, qualifying for the USCAA Tournament as the sixth seed and going 1-1 in the postseason. All home matches in 2016 will have live audio, video, and stats provided. Each match’s live audio will be powered by Illinois Media School.
