Women’s Track and Field Competes at Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill.—The Illinois Tech women’s track and field team competed at the Wheaton College Invitational last Saturday. Despite not recording a team score, the Scarlet Hawks put forth many strong performances.

How It Happened

  • In the 100m, Mmimika Effiong placed in a tie for 14th in a large field with a time of 13.65s. Both Alexandra Montgomery (26th, 14.13s) and Masha Staub (27th, 14.16s) are not far behind.
  • Effiong also continued her strong career in the long jump, placing 11th at 4.85m.
  • Staub (28.67s) and Montgomery (29.50s) also both competed in the 200m, placing 31st and 34th respectively.
  • In the 800m, Zoey Krevitz placed 48th at 2:55.78.
  • Erin Nelson was strong in the 1500m, placing 47th at 6:02.82. Madalyn Urig also ran in the race, recording a 6:52.07 time.
  • The four Tech racers placed 17th in the 4×400 Meter Relay at 4:50.23.
