The Department of Food Science and Nutrition will host Marilyn C. Cornelis, assistant professor of preventative medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, for a seminar titled “Omic Approaches to Coffee and Health Research” on Thursday, March 30, beginning at 12:45 p.m.

The seminar will be held in Room 111 of Robert Pritzker Auditorium.

Abstract: Marilyn C. Cornelis will summarize her efforts to identify the omic signatures of coffee and caffeine intake and how these findings may advance coffee and health research

Bio: Marilyn C. Cornelis, assistant professor of preventative medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, focuses her research on coupling modern high-throughput omic technologies to traditional clinical and epidemiological methods to enhance the biological understanding of how diet and nutrition contributes to chronic disease. She has a special interest in the genetics of coffee consumption, caffeine metabolism, taste preferences, and other dietary behaviors.
