Alan W. Cramb: Ninth President of Illinois Institute of Technology

cramb_150x175On August 1, 2015, Alan W. Cramb began his term as the ninth president of Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech). He will be inaugurated on Friday, September 18.

Cramb, who has been provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Illinois Tech since 2008, was unanimously elected by the Board of Trustees in October 2014, the same year he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering. He is the author of more than 200 publications, and the recipient of many academic and industry honors. Cramb received his B.Sc. with Honors in Metallurgy from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
